Ham ‘n Eggs Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Although we’ve tried almost every item on the main breakfast menu, there are still a few items down the bottom of the first page that we haven’t managed to have. This was one of them and to be perfectly honest I wasn’t quite sure it was really a […]

Cinnamon French Toast Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Belle and Herbs have the best breakfast menu EVER. If you needed any further proof, then this Cinnamon French Toast is it. Massive slices of doorstop white, briefly soaked in sweetened egg mix, then fried in butter. It was absolutely gorgeous — not mushy (as French toast often […]

American Breakfast Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. The American Breakfast is my FAVORITE thing off the Belle & Herbs Menu. It’s one of those dishes where the people at the table next to you give you “You can’t possibly eat all that!” faces when it’s served to you. It consists of 2 eggs, 2 rashers of […]

Carpetbagger Club Sandwich Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Not quite sure about the significance of the name, but this is another delicious club sandwich from Belle & Herbs. It consists of 3 slices of toasted doorstop, with strips of Scottish beef steak, caramelized onions and hot mushrooms. It’s usually also includes wholegrain mustard, but since I’m […]

The Man-wich! Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. The Man-wich I assume is a Belle & Herbs invention. It’s a club sandwich with smoked ham, toasted Mozarella (I think!), mango chutney and mayonnaise. First off I’ll say this was a bit of a strange flavour combination, but it definitely worked. The smoked ham was salty enough to […]

Chorizo and Red Pepper Soup Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Belle and Herbs don’t have a standard soups menu — everything runs off the specials board near the front door. That said, this Chorizo and Red Pepper soup seems to appear pretty regularly and sounded nice, so I tried it. The flavours worked very well together […]

Hot Scotch Beef Sandwich Originally uploaded by ellythompson. Now, I have to admit, I’m not alway a fan of Steak Sandwiches (they’re much more Meri’s kind of thing), but today, this is what I fancied, and it was wonderful. The Steak was cooked just how I like it and the mustard and the onions really […]

Steak Burger Plate Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Scotch beefsteak burger with bacon and grilled cheese, caramelized onions, burger mayo, tangy relish and salad, on a cheese and onion bun. This was just as delicious as the description sounds. What you might not be able to tell from the photo is that it was also MASSIVE. […]

Belle & Herbs Smoothie Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Belle and Herbs’ trademark smoothie is a great combination of apple, melon, orange, strawberry and possibly a bunch of other ingredients I’ve forgotten. Lovely mix, great taste 🙂

Berry Smoothie Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. One of the set recipe smoothies on the menu, the Berry Smoothie is made with Raspberries, Cranberries, Cherries and Redcurrents. It’s quite tart, and packed full of flavour. And not only that, it’s the most fantastic colour – it’s a wonderful dark red/purple!!

Elly’s Fridge Cake Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. I’m a big fan of Fridge Cake. Any Fridge Cake. Bits of Biscuit, Dried Fruit and Glace Cherries, coated in Chocolate and left to set… It’s yummy!

Black Forest Panini Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. When we went into Belle and Herbs today, I didn’t really feel hungry enough to tackle anything the size of their sandwiches, so I decided to try one of their paninis – which I’d not done before. The Black Forest Panini contains a fantastic mix of Smoked Ham, […]

More Lemon Curd Cake! Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. I don’t tend to be a big fan of cake. It’s often too sickly sweet for me, so I tend to pass. This time, however, since Elly was dead keen on the chocolate cake, I thought I’d try this lemon curd layer cake. I was very very […]

Chocolate Cake Originally uploaded by ellythompson. I usually try to resist looking at the cakes on the way into Belle and Herbs, as I know if I do look then I’ll just end up eating cake. I didn’t manage today as there was someone else looking as we walked in the door. Having seen this, […]

Hot Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. This is undoubtedly the best sandwich I have EVER had. Beef steak strips, caramelized onions, grated Monterey Jack and wonderful soft white doorstop bread. The most impressive thing was that the steak was just perfect. I mean I order steak AS A MEAL in a lot […]

Brie, Apple and Walnut Mayo Sandwich Originally uploaded by ellythompson. I love Waldorf Salad, so when this sandwich leapt off the menu at me, I just had to have it. And it was absolutely gorgeous. The Brie was creamy and delicately flavourful, the Apple was crisp, still with it’s bright green skin attached, and the […]

Top View of My Smoothie Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. The best thing about having a smoothie at Belle and Herbs is that after you order it you tend to see someone go past with an entire jug of fruit pieces. If you crane your neck a bit you can also see them blitz it into […]

Originally uploaded by ellythompson. There’s a whole section of the Belle and Herbs drinks menu dedicated to Smoothies. You can either pick one of their specials, or design-your-own from a list of fruit. The best thing is watching people wandering between front-of-house and the kitchen with jugs full of fruit. The Strawberry & Raspberry (with […]

Soup & Sandwich Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. Belle and Herbs have a fantastic lunchtime offer where you get a bowl of soup and a sandwich for five quid. I chose this sweet potato & bacon soup, with an ABC (Avocado, Bacon and Chicken) sandwich. The soup was delicious — an interesting combination of sweet and […]

Poached Egg Salad Originally uploaded by meriwilliams. With its Bacon bits and Poached Eggs with a Balsamic Vinegar Dressing on mixed greenery, this salad is pretty much a traditionaly Salad Lyonnaise, but without the pesky croutons, and with a better dressing. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I haven’t eaten a salad as quickly as I ate this […]
